Learning Math, Strategy, and Life Through Chess
Mark W. Quinn is an instructional designer, educator, curriculum developer, and founder of Mark Quinn Media LLC. With more than 30 years of experience in education, corporate learning, and instructional design, he has dedicated his career to helping people become better thinkers through engaging, meaningful learning experiences.
Mark currently develops workforce training and multimedia learning programs for Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition North America, blending instructional design, storytelling, and technology to improve performance and build confidence. Earlier in his career, he spent more than two decades in education, leading curriculum initiatives, teaching, and training educators. His work earned national recognition, including the 2014 Commitment to Education Award from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
While teaching in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Mark founded a scholastic chess club that inspired what would become The 64-Square World Method™—an inquiry-based approach that uses chess to develop mathematical reasoning, strategic thinking, problem-solving, executive function, and lifelong learning skills.
Mark is also the host of the Learning Math, Strategy, and Life Through Chess podcast, where he shares practical ideas for educators, parents, coaches, and students. Whether writing, designing curriculum, or producing educational media, his mission remains the same: to inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and help learners discover that every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
He lives in Ohio with his wife, Cheryl, and enjoys photography, podcasting, media production, and spending time with their family and grandchildren.
His guiding philosophy is simple: Every move is a decision. Every decision is an opportunity to learn.
